Digital Transformation Strategy
Station 1
- Duration
- 1-2 weeks
- What you get
- Digital maturity report
- Prioritised initiative list
- Digital roadmap with governance
What happens in station 1, workshop and assessment?
Station one of the Optima process chain establishes where a company stands digitally today, what holds it back and what pays off first. It takes one to two weeks and comes first because every later decision about tools and automation builds on this assessment. The work happens with the people who run the processes every day, not only with management: effort and friction are visible where the work actually takes place. What is recorded is the state of the systems, how they are really used, and the initiatives already being discussed inside the business.
Three documents remain with the company afterwards.
- The digital maturity report places the current state in context.
- The prioritised initiative list names the projects in order of benefit.
- The digital roadmap sets out who decides what, and by when.
Anyone who already knows which process is stuck can also enter directly at station two. The chain is a recommendation, not a gate.

Why strategy must come before technology
Many companies start with the technology: 'We need AI.' Or: 'We need to move to the cloud.' This leads to expensive, isolated point solutions without strategic coherence. We start differently: with an honest assessment of where you stand and the question of which technologies will genuinely advance your specific company.
Our approach
Pragmatic, prioritised, tailored to your resources
Digital Maturity Assessment
Where do you actually stand today? We assess your processes, tools, data and digital culture, honestly and without sugarcoating. This is the foundation for everything that follows.
Strategic Priorities
Not everything can happen at once. We help you identify the initiatives with the greatest leverage, measured against your specific business objectives and available resources.
Roadmap Development
A concrete 12–24 month plan with milestones, dependencies, responsibilities and realistic timelines. Not a PowerPoint strategy, but an actionable plan.
Governance & Resources
Who makes which decisions? What resources are needed when? How is progress measured? We create the structures that enable consistent implementation.
Implementation Support
We stay involved. Not just as strategy advisors, but as implementation partners. We coordinate between projects, escalate blockers and ensure strategy becomes reality.
On AI
AI as a tool in the digital strategy
Generative AI and AI-powered workflows are changing what mid-sized companies can achieve, document processing, customer service automation, data-driven decision-making. We help you assess where AI creates concrete value for your company and where it currently doesn't justify the hype. AI is evaluated in your roadmap as one of several tools, not as an end in itself.

From the field
Austrian manufacturing SME · ~150 employees
The company was working with a patchwork of Excel, an outdated ERP solution and isolated point tools. Under pressure from a supplier, the purchase of an expensive AI solution was imminent. After a digital maturity assessment and joint strategy development: an 18-month roadmap, consolidation onto a modern ERP platform as the core, AI use cases clearly defined and planned for phase 2, with a realistic business case rather than gut feeling.
